Picture Perfect
04/02/2015 20:18And just like that she was gone. And his precous little girl with her, too. His little princess. "Emotionally unattached". That's what she had called him. "A non-existent father",as well. And all that because he had always believed that children needed space to grow. Air to breathe. But she had clung to their little girl from the minute she was born and never let go ever since.
He had tried to reach out to her. Help her. He even tried getting their friends involved, make her see. "You make me seem bad in front of our friends",and a shut door, made it clear that she couldn't see,or that she wouldn't.
And then there was this moment. His picture perfect moment. The one that for him stood for, what he thought, was their marital bliss. It was a night that he had come home late. Their little girl was sick, and as he entered the house,he found his wife asleep at the foot of their daughter's bed. There they were. The two loves of his life. Sound asleep, safe at their home. He had tiptoed to the bedroom, afraid he might wake them, and kept that picture perfect in his heart ever since.
Until this evening, that is. "You monster", she had yelled at him. "You couldn't care less. Not even when your own child was burning with fever. No. You were only worried about not missing out on your precious beauty sleep."
And there it was. His picture perfect, dragged in the gutter that left a trail all the way to the front door. That door she had closed earlier that evening, holding his little princess in her hand.
